Mission Statement

The Seventh-day Adventist Dietetic Association (SDADA) is a non profit organization dedicated to advocacy of healthful living through use of a vegetarian diet.  

As nutritional professionals advocating the vegetarian lifestyle, the SDADA will serve as the primary source of vegetarian information to Seventh-day Adventist's (SDA's), SDA institutions, other health professionals, and the general public.
 

Objectives

To unite dietetic and nutritional professionals with special interests in vegetarian nutrition to provide scientific information useful for research, food service, health care and  nutrition education.

To promote a vegetarian lifestyle on the national and international level by providing vegetarian nutritional information in conjunction with local and governmental resources.

To assist in the assessment of nutritional needs in population groups and serve as a resource with other health agencies as a means to meet the nutritional needs identified.

To review, evaluate and disseminate current research and information on vegetarian nutrition.

To develop criteria for food service operations utilizing a vegetarian cuisine, based on nutrition principles of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.

To support research on vegetarian nutrition by offering grants and other forms of assistance.

To support excellence in education in the study of nutrition and dietetics in academic programs in institutions of higher learning.

To provide advisement and  leadership concerning nutritional policies and practices in the SDA Church.

To monitor legislative and regulatory trends and lobby such groups towards policies consistent with the philosophy of SDADA.

To develop and implement continuing education programs for practicing dietitians on vegetarian nutrition.

To generate interest in and promote the study of nutrition and dietetics, as a profession, among SDA young people.
